Odisha to Continue “Operation Cleanup” in Jails: Jail Staff are bared to carry mobile Phones inside

Bhubaneswar: Odisha to continue “Operation Cleanup” in Jails to keep criminal conspiracies and contrabands away from the custody. With intelligence inputs, special squads of the state Prisons Directorate will carry surprise operations and check the wards, says IG Prisons.

The Operation cleanup ‘ is now being undertaken in various jails by Prisons Directorate to enforce strict discipline.  For this  Jail staff have been barred to carry mobiles to jails during office hours except superintendent and  jailor but they too cannot carry mobiles inside, informed the Directorate.

“A special squad under direct supervision of IG prisons are conducting intelligence-based surprise operations in various jails against contrabands etc. they have already done surprise searches of 6 jails. It will continue, says a release to the Press by the Directorate.

During this drive, Hardcore gangsters are being shifted to various jails to prevent any meeting of minds to criminal conspiracy. Already 4-5 hardcore gangsters shifted to various jails and this exercise will go on. similarly honest staff and warders are being rewarded and felicitated for recovery of contrabands says the release.
